Celebrating our legacy of modern fashion, creativity, individuality, and intrigue by providing every guest with an unparalleled customer experience. We are currently seeking a Manager for our Shipping & Receiving Department at our San Francisco Flagship location.

The Manager, Shipping & Receiving oversees all aspects of the Shipping & Receiving Department, including maintaining the efficiency of all merchandise handling functions and coordinating and supervising the daily activities of the Stock Associates. 


  • Participate in semi-annual store physical inventories

  • Train new Stock Associates and provide ongoing training to existing associates on all Barneys New York policies, procedures and standards

  • Operate within budgetary guidelines and be fiscally responsible

  • Coordinate the timely processing of daily incoming merchandise from vendors, the distribution center, and/or any other facility

  • Ensure transfers, markdowns, and shipments are processed accurately and on timely basis

  • Execute inter-store transfers throughout the Company

  • Reconcile any merchandise discrepancies

  • Collect, prepare and send customer’s merchandise

  • Ensure customer sends meet appropriate standards for fees, timeliness, and packing

  • Track and distribute customer returns

  • Note merchandise damages

  • Coordinate new merchandise being delivered to the floor ensuring it is on time and follows presentation standards.

  • Ensures that an adequate level of supplies is on hand to meet customer and associate needs (bags, boxes, ribbon, sales checks, etc.).

  • Complete ordering of supplies is done within monthly budget

  • Ensures that associates are instilled with a high level of shortage awareness and an understanding of their role in shrink reduction

  • Facilitates accurate and efficient physical inventories

  • Other duties as assigned


  • Prior manager or supervisory experience required

  • Prior retail shipping, stock or logistics experience required

  • Excellent communication and creative problem solving skills

  • Well organized with the ability to be flexible based on the needs of the business

  • Full-schedule flexibility, inclusive of weekends, holidays

  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

  • Must be able to develop strong, professional internal and external relationships

  • Advanced knowledge in technology, computer skills

  • Ability to understand computer based reporting in the areas of inventory

  • Proven team management skills (coach and monitor a team)
