    The Mucke Laboratory has a long track record of innovation in disease-focused neuroscience and of training leaders in this field. We are inviting applications from talented students with matching interests and ambitions to join our highly interactive team of scientists at the Gladstone Institutes in San Francisco. Our group focuses on processes that cause cognitive disorders ranging from dementias to epileptic encephalopathies and autism spectrum disorders. We use rodent and tissue culture models to investigate disease mechanisms and address related fundamental neuroscientific questions at the molecular, cellular, network and behavioral level. Experimental models are also used to develop and evaluate novel therapeutic strategies. The clinical relevance and potential of these strategies are assessed through interdisciplinary collaborations involving clinical programs and other partners.


    Postdoctoral candidates should possess a PhD, MD, or both and have a strong background in neuroscience or other relevant areas of biomedical research, as well as an outstanding record of academic achievements and research productivity.
