Medtronic Diabetes is looking to bring on board an Engineering Test Manager, joining our Intensive Multiple Daily Injection Solutions group focused on developing devices and solutions that help individuals living with Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes manage their care more effectively. The Test Manager will have overall responsibility for establishing formal testing processes to help the team utilize automated and simulated test frameworks to script, test, and drive improvements in the quality of our products

This individual will report to our Engineering Director R&D and will play a key technical leadership role for the software test organization. The successful candidate, will guide the successful completion of major programs and projects whose end products will impact patients around the world. 

This role is located at the Medtronic Diabetes headquarters in Northridge, CA - a Northwest suburb of Los Angeles.

A Day in the Life 

?First and foremost, build and develop a strong SW test organization.
?Provide resource planning for development programs and ensure that development programs are served with integration test efforts
?Establish infrastructure to drive efficiency and scale-ability
?Work on initiatives to drive continuously improvements in test processes and procedures. 
?Keep an eye on process improvement – specifically looking to improve testing methodologies and procedures to assure test coverage. 
?Identify and propose modifications to current policies and processes.
?Manage a team of experienced engineers who will exercise independence in their assignments but will look to you to provide tactical and operational leadership and coaching on performance and career development. You will be responsible for leading, directing and reviewing their work and providing feedback.
?Use your leadership skills especially as it pertains to communicating effectively across a matrix using influence and cross-collaboration skills. 
?Provide leadership to Engineers across multiple sites, consisting of employees and contract personnel.
?Follow standards defined by the Food and Drug Administration for the medical device industry.
?Plans, directs and implements all aspects of the company's design and development of new medical device products or software systems.
?May develop, evaluate, implement and maintain technical quality assurance and control systems or reliability systems and standards pertaining to materials, techniques, or company products.
?Oversees the investigation and evaluation of existing technologies.
?Guides the conceptualization of new methodologies, materials, machines, processes or products.
?Directs the development of new concepts from initial design to market release.
?Manages feasibility studies of the design to determine if capable of functioning as intended.
?Monitors documentation maintenance throughout all phases of research and development.
?Organizes the coordination of activities with outside suppliers and consultants to ensure timely delivery.
?Selects, develops and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.

Qualifications

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

?Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Science 5 years professional experience OR Master's Degree in Engineering, Science 3 years professional experience
?Experience leading/managing software test or product development teams
?Experience in software testing; Verification & Validation.
Nice to Have

?Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Science 7 years professional experience OR Master's Degree in Engineering, Science 4 years professional experience
?Experience building, developing and executing test programs.
?Experience with engineering documentation.
?Full life-cycle product development experience in the medical device, consumer healthcare, aerospace or consumer electronics industry. 
?Experience in early product definition and requirements management 
?Experience driving initiatives to improve development practices to shorten time to market and deliver better product quality
?Experience with testing an Embedded or Mobile Device.
?Experience with creating test automation frameworks.
?Knowledge in model driven development and/or model driven test: e.g. MATLAB/Simulink.
?Experience with requirements management system and defect management applications.
?Knowledge of technology trends and domain expertise.
?Self-motivated to strive for excellence.
?Experience with continuous integration.
